Safe Environment Program

St. John the Baptist Parish follows the requirements of the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program (Protecting God’s Children). The program is designed to help protect the youth, elderly, and vulnerable adults of our parish as they participate in activities within our community. All volunteers, and employees who work with children, visit the elderly or vulnerable in our parish must be in full compliance with the program. This includes:

  1. Attending a Protecting God’s Children workshop – Register at this link. If you encounter a problem or with questions, please call the Safe Environment Office at (314) 792-7704 for assistance.
  2. Undergoing a background check updated in even-numbered years.- St. John the Baptist will pay the registration fee. Click here to download a copy of the DHSS Worker Registration Form.
  3. Completing the Code of  Ethics for Employees and Volunteers Form. Click here to download a copy of Code of Ethics for Employees & Volunteers.
  4.  If you live in another State and volunteer in the State of Missouri, you will need to sign and complete the American Checked, Inc. formClick here to download a copy of American Checked, Inc form.

Note: It is very important all documentation is completed and processed prior to when you begin ministering service at St. John the Baptist.

These requirements are mandated by the United States Council of Catholic Bishops and are followed by every diocese in the country. Each Parish must have copies of individual background checks and a confirmation of the Code of Ethical Conduct form on file for all active volunteers and employees.

If you have any questions, or have taken these steps at another Parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, please contact Linda Sternitzky at: rectory@sjbstl.org or (314) 353-1255.
