There has been much talk in the last few years about changing the look of our picnic to bring it more up-to-date. Dwindling workers, dwindling crowds and the closing of the school are all factors to pause and think about what we could do differently.
We are celebrating 100 years of rich history . . . so what can we do to move forward and still have a fun event that brings the St. John’s family together?
Here are some topics to get us thinking creatively:
- Change the date to the weekend and/or the fall.
- Have something less expensive than carnival rides.
- Introduce some new games/activities.
- Introduce some new foods.
- Introduce some new entertainment.
The Parish Council would like your suggestions. Please send them to the rectory by email at email@example.com, the collection basket on Sundays or the rectory mail slot by Nov. 30th. We will make a survey from the ideas and parishioners/alumni will have a chance to complete this by the end of December.
Lastly, as a member of our parish or as an alum, please think about what you can offer to make the picnic better. A committee will be formed and meet in January and we need new members. Please indicate on your response if you would like to be on this committee. Be a part of the new, updated picnic!
